FOCUS AREA

Zoonotic Diseases
Recognizing the critical interface between human and animal health, we prioritize addressing zoonotic diseases – illnesses transmissible between animals and humans. Our association actively engages in surveillance, research, and educational initiatives to curb the emergence and transmission of these diseases. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals, veterinarians, and environmental scientists, we work towards a proactive approach to prevention and control.
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)
In the face of escalating concerns surrounding antimicrobial resistance, the One Health Association - India Chapter is dedicated to combating this global threat. We advocate for responsible antimicrobial use in both human and animal health, conduct research on AMR patterns, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to promote evidence-based practices. Our efforts contribute to a sustainable and effective use of antimicrobials to safeguard public health.
Health System Strengthening
A resilient and effective health system is fundamental to achieving the goals of One Health. We actively collaborate with government health departments and healthcare institutions to strengthen India's health system. Our initiatives focus on integrating One Health principles into healthcare policies, enhancing capacity through training programs, and promoting a coordinated approach to health challenges.
Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Addressing environmental factors impacting health, we champion initiatives promoting water sanitation and hygiene. By collaborating with communities, government bodies, and non-profits, we strive to enhance access to clean water, improve sanitation practices, and promote hygiene awareness. These efforts contribute to preventing waterborne diseases and fostering overall community well-being.
Biosecurity
Ensuring biosecurity is paramount to preventing the spread of infectious diseases. The One Health Association - India Chapter actively engages in promoting biosecurity measures in healthcare settings, agricultural practices, and wildlife conservation. By implementing rigorous standards, we work towards minimizing the risk of disease outbreaks and protecting the health of populations, animals, and ecosystems.
Disease Surveillance
Robust disease surveillance is a cornerstone of our efforts. We implement comprehensive surveillance systems that monitor the health status at the intersection of human, animal, and environmental health. This enables early detection of potential outbreaks, facilitates evidence-based interventions, and contributes to informed decision-making in public health.
